En Route . . .

I SAW THE LAINS!

Highlight of the day certainly goes to having coffee with Larry, Kirsta, Averiana, and Eli Lain. I even missed listening to the way they talk. Larry sounds like Crush the Turtle from “Finding Nemo” and Krista speaks with more sincerity than Gandhi. I haven’t seen (or heard) them since the Louisiana trip in ‘06. Right now they are preparing to head out as Missionaries to Mongolia in the next couple of months. They also drive an ’80s VW van. Can they possibly get any cooler?

Little Eli grabbed my hand while he and his Mommy prayed over his food. He is the most precious little boy I have ever seen. He certainly took a piece of my heart with that tiny Vietnamese hand of his. All I could think was that someday “I’m getting one!” I realize it sounds like someone gunning for a pint, but believe me when I say that I have dreamed of adopting since I was very young.

They live the life I’m aiming for . . . to walk by faith and not be stupid about it. They are smart people and continue to seek the Lord and risk when he says risk and sit tight when he says “Sit.”

This family has SO much love in them and they have no qualms about sharing it with whoever is nearby. The two tables packed full of people attested to their impact on us. They are the hippies of our hearts. To know the Lains is to love them.
